FAQs
Do they need to bring any thing?
Participants should wear comfortable clothing and close toe shoes that are good for outdoor play. (We will have breaks for outdoor play!) Students should also bring a water bottle and a non-messy snack. Campers must have a DSLR camera to use each day of camp. A wide/medium and telephoto lens is recommended but not required. It is highly encouraged to bring a laptop on Friday.
What is the format of each day?
Participants should be signed in by a parent or guardian between 9-9:10 AM each day of camp. We will have 3, 45 minute sessions with 15 minute breaks between each before ending at 12 PM. Parents may pickup at 12 PM or let their child stay for lunch and play until pickup between 12:45-1PM.
Does my child have to attend the Wednesday Night session?
Short answer: yes. This very special evening session where we will experiment with long exposures in the dark to help solidify student's understanding of the exposure triangle and why their camera settings are important. It's an evening they won't want to miss!!
Do you provide lunch?
No. No food is provided at camp. If you have your child stay after 12 PM, they must bring a sack lunch. Participants who stay will be eat on outside patio and play until pickup. In inclement weather, lunch and play will be canceled for the day. Participants will not be allowed to play inside the house.
Can parents stay for camp?
Yes, we welcome some parents to stay but regret that we cannot accommodate other children that are not registered. If you choose to stay, please make other arrangements for any other children. The first 2 parents per session who opt to stay will receive $20 off of their child's registration as it is important that I have chaperones.
Do you have sibling discounts?
Yes, all families with multiple children enrolled will receive $30 off each registration, regardless of which camp siblings are in.
Do you have Scholarships or Financial Aid?
At this time, I am not able to provide any other discounts. These camps are a joy to put on but they are also a necessity for me to sustain my family. If you are interested in sponsoring other families to participate who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it, please reach out to me directly. Lauren: veritasetvirtusnc@gmail.com
Do I have to pay upfront?
A $100 deposit is required per student per session to reserve their spot. You may choose to pay upfront or pay in 2 or 3 installments.
What payment methods do you take?
I prefer payment via Venmo but also take Zelle, PayPal, and credit card. Credit cards will incur a $10 fee on the total.
Does my child need to have any previous skill or knowledge for camp?
Nope! Not at all. I will guide them to learn everything they need to know.
